Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk or milk + 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • olive oil spray for misting

  • Mixing bowls

Method
 

  1. Slice onions evenly and separate into rings.
  2. Soak onions in buttermilk for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Mix flour, panko, and seasonings in a bowl.
  4. Coat onions with the flour mixture; repeat for extra crunch.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Place onions in a single layer, spray lightly with oil.
  7. Air fry 7–9 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add cayenne or Parmesan to the coating.
