Ingredients
  

Donut Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.125 tsp cloves optional
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.67 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup reduced apple cider
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease donut pans.
  2. Simmer apple cider until reduced to 3/4 cup. Cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and reduced cider.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Do not overmix.
  6. Pipe batter into donut pans about 3/4 full.
  7. Bake 10–12 minutes until donuts spring back when touched.
  8. Dip warm donuts in melted butter, then coat in cinnamon sugar.

Notes

Best served warm. Store up to 3 days in an airtight container.
