Method
- Melt butter in a saucepan and cook until golden brown and fragrant. Let cool slightly.
- Toast chopped pecans in a dry skillet for 3–4 minutes and let cool.
- Whisk together flour, powdered sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Pour in the browned butter and add vanilla. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Fold toasted pecans into the dough.
- Chill dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–14 minutes until set and lightly golden.
- Cool completely and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Chill dough before baking to maintain shape and create the classic sandie texture.
