Ingredients
  

Patties
  • 1.5 cups cooked chickpeas or 1 can, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato about 1 medium
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs use gluten-free if needed
  • 1 egg or flax egg for vegan option
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp ground coriander
  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for frying or brushing

Method
 

  1. Boil or steam sweet potato until tender, then mash until smooth.
  2. Mash chickpeas in a large bowl, leaving some chunks for texture.
  3. Add mashed sweet potato, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, and spices. Mix until combined.
  4. Form mixture into 8–10 patties.
  5. Pan-fry or bake until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
  6. Serve with yogurt or tahini dip and garnish with parsley.

Notes

For a vegan version, replace the egg with a flax egg.
