Method
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed into a thick batter.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough into hot oil and fry until golden, about 1–2 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl. Brush donut holes with melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar to coat.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
For even coating, roll donut holes while still warm. Best served fresh but can be reheated.
