Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds button mushrooms cleaned and halved
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley chopped

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. Clean the mushrooms thoroughly and cut them in half, ensuring uniform pieces for even cooking.
  2. Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter begins to foam.
  3. Add the halved mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  4. Cook the mushrooms without stirring for 4-5 minutes, allowing them to develop a golden-brown color on one side.
  5. Flip the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until they're golden brown on both sides.
  6. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  7. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika to the skillet.
  8. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mushrooms are fully coated and heated through.
  9. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving immediately.
  10. Serve hot as a side dish or appetizer, garnished with additional parsley if desired.

Notes

For best results, don't overcrowd the mushrooms in the pan as this will cause them to steam rather than brown. Work in batches if necessary. These mushrooms pair excellently with grilled meats and can be served as an appetizer with crusty bread.
