  • 5 oz chipped beef sliced
  • 1 tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 0.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce optional

Method
 

  1. Slice or tear chipped beef into bite-size pieces; rinse lightly if very salty.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  5. Add chipped beef and black pepper; stir to combine.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce if using.
  7. Spoon warm chipped beef gravy over toasted bread.

Notes

For extra flavor, add paprika, onion powder, or a splash of hot sauce. Serve immediately for maximum toast crispness.
