Ingredients
  

Taco Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 0.5 onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • salt and pepper to taste
Assembly
  • 10-12 hard taco shells
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend
Toppings (Optional)
  • shredded lettuce
  • diced tomatoes
  • chopped cilantro
  • sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • lime wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Baking sheet or casserole dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet, add onion, garlic, taco seasoning, and tomato sauce. Simmer briefly.
  3. Arrange taco shells in baking dish, add cheese at the bottom, fill with beef mixture, and top with more cheese.
  4. Bake 8–10 minutes until shells are crispy and cheese melted. Serve hot with toppings.

Notes

For best crunch, serve immediately after baking. Adjust spice level by adding hot sauce or jalapeños.
