Crock Pot Cranberry Butter

A sweet-tart fruit butter made by slow cooking cranberries with orange and warm spices until smooth and spreadable.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup orange juice fresh preferred
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Equipment

  • Slow cooker
  • Immersion blender or blender
  • Measuring cups

Method
 

  1. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker.
  2. Cook on low until cranberries burst and soften.
  3. Remove spices and blend until smooth.
  4. Continue cooking uncovered if needed to thicken.
  5. Cool and store in jars.

Notes

Butter thickens as it cools; do not overcook.
