Easy Dollywood Style Cinnamon Bread

A soft, buttery, pull-apart cinnamon bread inspired by Dollywood’s famous recipe. Gooey, sweet, and incredibly easy to make at home.

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp melted butter
Optional Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Loaf pan
  • Rolling pin
  • Pastry brush

Method
 

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, salt, and half the flour and mix.
  3. Add remaining flour and knead until soft.
  4. Let dough rise 30–40 minutes.
  5. Mix cinnamon, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  6. Roll dough into an 8×12 inch rectangle.
  7. Slash the dough lengthwise and crosswise.
  8. Brush dough with melted butter.
  9. Press cinnamon sugar mixture into the slashes and all over the dough.
  10. Fold dough in half and twist.
  11. Place into a greased loaf pan and top with more butter and cinnamon sugar.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes.
  13. Drizzle with glaze if desired.
  14. Serve warm and pull apart.

Notes

For extra gooey texture, add more melted butter halfway through baking.
