Ingredients
  

French Onion Beef
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.75 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 0.5 tsp thyme dried
  • salt and pepper to taste
For Serving
  • 1.5 cups Gruyère cheese shredded
  • 6 buns toasted

Method
 

  1. Caramelize onions in butter until golden; add garlic.
  2. Add beef, cook until browned, then drain.
  3. Stir in thyme, Worcestershire, tomato paste, and beef broth; simmer until thick.
  4. Stir in half the Gruyère until melted.
  5. Spoon onto toasted buns and top with more cheese.

Notes

For extra French onion flavor, add a splash of sherry while deglazing the onions.
