Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough onto floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in greased bowl, cover with damp cloth, and rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a smooth ball.
- Place rolls on greased baking sheet, cover, and rise 30 minutes until puffed.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and parmesan.
- Brush rolls with garlic butter mixture, reserving some for after baking.
- Bake 18-22 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
- Brush warm rolls with remaining garlic butter and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use a kitchen scale to measure flour. Rolls can be frozen after shaping and baked directly from frozen, adding 5-7 minutes to baking time.
