Ingredients
  

Casserole Base
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup cooked rice (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth or water to thin if needed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • 2 cups crispy chow mein noodles
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil for sautéing
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and celery. Cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in soups, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and broth until combined.
  5. Fold in cooked rice if using, then transfer mixture to prepared baking dish.
  6. Top with shredded cheese (if using) and chow mein noodles.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve warm.

Notes

Add chow mein noodles just before baking to keep them crispy. Great make-ahead freezer meal.
