Bread Pudding
  • 6 cups day-old bread cubes
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
Vanilla Sauce
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease baking dish.
  2. Whisk milk, cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and spices.
  3. Pour mixture over bread and soak 10–15 minutes.
  4. Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  5. Prepare vanilla sauce by simmering butter, sugar, and cream; stir in vanilla.
  6. Serve warm with vanilla sauce.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best texture. Let soak fully before baking.
