Ingredients

  • 1 lb baby potatoes halved if large
  • 1 tbsp neutral cooking oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced

Equipment

  • Wide skillet or saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Wash and prepare potatoes. Cut into bite-sized pieces if large.
  2. Heat oil in a wide pan over medium heat and sauté potatoes until lightly golden.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add soy sauce, sugar, and water. Stir gently to coat.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes until potatoes are tender and sauce reduces.
  6. Finish with sesame oil and toss gently.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

Sauce thickens more as it cools. Adjust sweetness to taste.
