Method
- Warm milk and steep Earl Grey tea bags for 10 minutes; cool.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare cake pans.
- Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and optional ground tea leaves.
- Beat butter and add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and tea-infused milk.
- Bake 24–28 minutes, then cool completely.
- Beat butter, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla bean paste to make frosting.
- Assemble cake with frosting between layers and over the top.
Notes
For stronger tea flavor, add 1 tbsp finely ground Earl Grey to the batter.
