Ingredients
  

Cupcakes
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract pure
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract pure
  • 2–3 tbsp milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter among liners, filling 2/3 full.
  7. Bake 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
  8. For frosting, beat butter, then gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  9. Frost cooled cupcakes and decorate as desired.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Do not overmix batter.
