Ingredients

Base
  • 2 pounds frozen french fries
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Toppings
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese grated
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 4 green scallions chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Large skillet
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Spread frozen fries in a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Bake 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. While fries bake, cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat until crispy, 6-8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble.
  4. In small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add garlic powder and stir to combine.
  5. Remove fries from oven and immediately brush with garlic butter mixture.
  6. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly over hot fries. Return to oven for 3-5 minutes until cheese melts.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately top with crumbled bacon and chopped scallions.
  8. Serve immediately with sour cream and enjoy while hot and gooey.

Notes

For extra flavor, save bacon fat to toss with fries before baking. Fries must be hot when adding cheese for proper melting. Serve immediately for best texture.
