Ingredients
  

Sloppy Joe Mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Bread Base
  • 2 French bread loaves halved lengthwise
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Add tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika.
  6. Season with salt and pepper, then simmer for 10-15 minutes until thick and gooey.
  7. Mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley.
  8. Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over cut sides of French bread.
  9. Top each bread half with the sloppy joe mixture.
  10. Sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat mixture. Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in oven to maintain crispness.
