Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups smoked Gouda cheese shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs

Method
 

  1. Cook macaroni in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in flour and cook until lightly golden.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Add garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in smoked Gouda and cheddar until melted and smooth.
  5. Fold pasta into cheese sauce and transfer to a baking dish.
  6. Top with breadcrumbs and bake until bubbly and lightly golden.

Notes

For extra creaminess, serve immediately after baking.
