- Cook macaroni in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in flour and cook until lightly golden.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Add garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Simmer until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in smoked Gouda and cheddar until melted and smooth.
- Fold pasta into cheese sauce and transfer to a baking dish.
- Top with breadcrumbs and bake until bubbly and lightly golden.
Notes
For extra creaminess, serve immediately after baking.
