  • 1 lb fresh okra sliced
  • 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 celery stalks sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 14 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chicken broth or seafood stock
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Creole seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp thyme
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped

Equipment

  • Large pot or skillet

Method
 

  1. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and a pinch of paprika. Set aside.
  2. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery in olive oil. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Add sliced okra and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Stir in tomatoes, paprika, Creole seasoning, thyme, black pepper, and salt.
  5. Pour in broth and simmer 20–25 minutes until okra is tender.
  6. Add shrimp and cook 3–5 minutes until pink.
  7. Stir in parsley, adjust seasonings, and serve hot.

Notes

For deeper flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire or hot sauce before serving.
