Casserole Ingredients
  • 4 boneless pork chops about 1 inch thick
  • 4 cups potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or preferred cheese
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sear pork chops in a skillet 2–3 minutes per side; remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onions and garlic in butter until soft.
  4. Stir in flour to make a roux, then gradually whisk in milk and cream to form gravy.
  5. Layer half of the potatoes in the baking dish and pour half the cream sauce over them.
  6. Place seared pork chops on top, then layer remaining potatoes and pour remaining sauce.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes; remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Cheese and sauce will thicken slightly as casserole rests.
