Ingredients
  

Sweet Potato Base
  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes peeled
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cup pure maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Pecan Topping
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.75 cup pecans chopped

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a casserole dish.
  2. Boil sweet potatoes until tender, then mash until smooth.
  3. Mix mashed sweet potatoes with butter, maple syrup, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, spices, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture evenly in casserole dish.
  5. Combine topping ingredients until crumbly and sprinkle over casserole.
  6. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden and heated through.

Notes

Can be assembled a day ahead and baked before serving.
