- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking apart with wooden spoon, until browned, 6-8 minutes.
- Add diced onion and bell pepper to skillet, cooking 4-5 minutes until vegetables soften.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in beef broth and bring mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Slice French bread in half lengthwise.
- Mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and salt in small bowl.
- Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over both bread halves.
- Bake bread on prepared baking sheet 8-10 minutes until lightly golden and crispy.
- Remove bread and evenly distribute sloppy joe mixture over both halves.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over meat mixture.
- Return to oven and bake 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, cool 2-3 minutes, then slice and serve.
Notes
For extra flavor, add jalapeños or different cheese blends. The sloppy joe mixture can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months. Store leftovers in refrigerator up to 3 days.
