Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a large baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef, breaking into small crumbles. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until no pink remains, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In the same skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce to onions, stirring well. Continue cooking over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are deeply golden brown and caramelized with a thick, glossy consistency, about 15-20 minutes.
- Slice the entire package of dinner rolls in half horizontally, keeping top and bottom halves intact. Place bottom half in prepared baking dish.
- Spread cooked ground beef evenly over bottom layer of rolls in baking dish.
- Distribute caramelized onions evenly over ground beef layer.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over onion layer, ensuring good coverage.
- Place top half of dinner rolls over cheese layer. Brush tops with additional melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and roll tops are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes. Cut along original roll divisions to separate into individual sliders. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, add crispy bacon or pickles. Store leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for best results. Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking.
